Posting Date:  25 Sep 2024

Role description:

As a Data Migration Consultant, your role will be to work with our customers to define our Data Migration approach on our Membership solution projects.  Your particular focus will be working with the customer to deliver transformed customer data to their new membership system in a timely and efficient manner. You will be involved in the full life cycle of the Silverbear implementation project from requirement gathering, data integration to go-live and everything in-between.

Our Data Migration Consultants are enthusiastic, creative, flexible and motivated team players who can demonstrate ability to interpret business requirements into technical solution. As a member of this project team, you will be experienced in migrating significant data sets from multiple source systems to a single reference system. You will have an understanding of business data, where it can be held, how it can be found and how it can be migrated whether that is on a SQL Server, Oracle database, or smaller databases/spreadsheets.

Communication and collaboration skills are critical to the role, with the use of interpersonal skills to encourage an on-going dialogue with customers and internal stakeholders throughout the project life-cycle. These skills will be key to defining the scope, risk, dependencies and constraints of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Close collaboration and communication with our clients and the project team throughout the lifecycle of a project in order to define and deliver successful data migration. Being able to identify, breakdown, and communicate potential issues to all parties involved is critical to the success of a project.
  • High level analysis of the client’s existing data and business processes during a discovery process to define the scope of the project, and define a plan for the migration to ensure all data is correctly migrated, and allow for seamless business continuity during project implementation.
  • Technical analysis of the client’s data to understand the complexities of the data, their requirements and the data outcomes required to achieve that.
  • Manipulation and mapping of the source data to our membership product as part of the ETL process, through the use of complex SQL, SSIS, and C#. This custom development is a significant part of this role.
  • Ongoing reflection on the processes being used and how they may best be improved, both at the individual project level and at a team process/best practices level.
  • Providing guidance and support to business stakeholders and technical teams on data migration best practices and processes.
  • Creating and maintaining documentation of data migration processes and procedures.
  • Troubleshooting and resolving data migration issues.
